Let’s Make a Rustic Art Piece.

These are the supply’s you will need.

*Printable (your choice)

*Frame

*1 Foam brushes

*Small paint brush

*Mod Podge

I choose this picture for the color variation. I printed it as an 8x10 however you can print it in any size, it depends on the size frame you have. I used my home printer with regular computer paper.

You will want to put a generous amount of Mod Podge all over the print with the foam brush, be sure to get it even over the entire print.

Keep going back and forth until you get the Mod Podge even, you will want to keep it wet, so you are able to add the texture and lines.

Now I moved the Modge Pod around with my small paint brush. I choose to move it in the direction of the images, for example with the wildflowers I took my brush and mod podge and brushed it going up the stems of the wildflowers. With the sky’s I did a few different directions, using a heavy hand in some spots to create swishes. When you put more product in some places it creates more texture and a slightly raised look.

It may wrinkle don’t worry it won’t affect the end result. If you do this technique, your piece will take a couple hours to dry, give it the time it needs.

You can see its almost dry, you can also see a little bit of ink has come through the Mod Podge don’t worry about that it will not affect the end result. At this point you can trim it up to fit your frame. Let it finish drying before you go to the next step.

Once your piece is dry you can add Mod Podge to the backing of the frame, or you can use the glass for this process.

I added the picture to the backing of the frame and worked any bubbles out. When you are doing this step be sure to only use your fingers to smooth it out this will ensure you don’t rip the paper.

Thats it, look how pretty this turned out. I did not use the glass. I wanted to give it a vintage oil painting look but you can use the glass if you would like.

Let talk frames. You can pick frames up at a thrift store, garage sale, antique store, dollar store or your big box retail store. Just add a little paint so it compliments your picture.

I hope this DIY craft gives you some inspiration to make some new art pieces for your home.
