Saving Hundreds of Dollars Each Year on This Household Staple

PAPERTOWELS....

We all use paper towels in our homes and if you buy a quality paper towel, they have gotten expensive.

As a family we were going through them like they were free, and I knew I needed to figure out a way to cut our cost on this household staple not only to save money but to keep them out of the landfills.

I started looking around for reusable options and alternative to paper towels. I was surprised to see how expensive reusable paper towels were. I knew I needed a lot as the goal was not to make more work for myself.

After spending some time searching, I found these rags, no they were not reusable dish towels they were just rags which was ok with me I needed nothing fancy. I was able to get 100 of them for under $40.00.

When I received them, I knew they would be perfect. I washed them up and when I pulled them out of the dryer, they were light and fluffy with ALOT of strings and frays. I grabbed my scissors and trimmed them up and put them in my metal bucket you see in the picture. I knew in order to get everyone on board using this new system I had to made it easy. I put the bucket in the kitchen it helped that it matched out decor perfect. I folded them in half and put them in the bucket.

We use these for almost everything spills, cleaning, drying our hands, polishing, dusting, just name a few.

Now I had to figure out a way to deal with the dirty rags and how I was going to wash them. I needed to come up with a system.

I grabbed this basket we had sitting around I decided to use this for the dirty rags, it takes us about 2 weeks to fill the basket and we still have rags left.

Washing twice a month and saving about $20 a month on paper towels which in turn is a savings of $240 a year is a great trade off. I wash and dry them they come out of the dryer I do need to trim strings each time and fold them however that is only a 10 min commitment.

I have now used this system for about 6 months, and it's been a game changer. I am not currently offering the 100 pack of rags on my website however if I get enough interest, I can add packs to my website. You can also email us at infosweetpickins@gmail.com  if you have questions.
